1922
First Dunlop steel bead tyre with a woven cord casing trebled tyre life and became the industry standard.
1948
Dunlop introduces a tubeless tyre with a plastic self-sealing layer on the inner surface casing preventing loss of air in case of tyre damage.
1959
Introduction of the first tyre incorporating an intensive knife-cut tread pattern, a nylon casing and the safety shoulder.
1962 - 1964
The Dunlop technical team discovers a phenomenon unexplained until then - aquaplaning - causing a worldwide sensation.
1972
Dunlop develops the first 60 series steel belt tyre.
1973
Dunlop launches DENOVO, the first 'fail-safe' wheel/tyre system.
1979
Denloc bead locking system introduced.
1994
Dunlop presents the first ultralight construction belt tyre. It reduced the vehicle weight by about 12 kg.
1997
Dunlop launches the high performance tyre SP Sport 9000, a completely new profile technology.
1998
Development of the DSST tyre, a self-supporting tyre with 'fail-safe' characteristics.
1999
The tyre monitoring system WARNAIR quickly detects air pressure loss.
2002
Dunlop introduces the SP Sport 01, with 3S technology. An innovative asymmetrical tri-area tread to equally unite the aspects of sport, safety, silence.
2004
The SP Sport Maxx is launched featuring Multi Radius Tread (MRT) technology giving the driver more of the tyre on more of the road, more of the time.
