For the comfortable driver in you: Parallelogram-Block-Design
Driver comfort is extremely important, which is why the reduction of pass-by and in-car noise was an important objective in the development of the new SP Sport 01. With a closed outer shoulder design and a completely new arrangement of the shoulder blocks in "Asymmetric-Transfer-Variation", the SP Sport 01 eliminates disturbing high frequencies. As a result all the present and planned EU restrictions for noise emission can be complied with and in many cases exceeded. In addition, the new design effectively compensates for any lateral forces which occur. With particularly low rolling noise and safe handling, the SP Sport 01 offers excellent driving comfort.

While driving you really don't want to compromise. Sports handling is important and comfort and safety essential. The development target of the new SP Sport 01 was to create a tyre that incorporates all the attributes of Sport, Safety and Silence. The asymmetric tread design makes it possible to define three different areas relating to these three main attributes. Each area has a specific task to satisfy different driving styles. From the very beginning the new SP Sport 01 has been developed with leading partners in the automotive industry to comply with the very latest vehicle design and construction. And, last but not least, its development draws on many Dunlop motorsport successes including German Touring Car Masters and Le Mans 24Hour.
With the innovative asymmetric Tri-Area-Tread, a tyre has successfully been developed to unite the aspects of smooth running, sportiness and safety.
Dividing the tread into three zones ensures the greatest possible balance in driving behaviour, no matter what the conditions are. Making the tyre ideal for vehicles of the middle/upper middle range and luxury cars.
Not only does the exterior of the new SP Sport 01 look promising, underneath it features the finest ingredients of state-of-the-art tyre technology:
- Jointless Nylon Bandage: prevents the tyre from expanding at high speed and ensures an even and wide contact area at all speed levels.
- BasePen: ensures electrostatic conduction, avoiding electrostatic charging (e.g. when filling up with petrol)
- 100% Silica tread: increases dry and wet grip and reduces rolling resistance. Hence lower petrol consumption and less tread wear
- PSP-Beta concept: computer simulations result in stable performance characteristics right through to complete tread wear
- Maximum Flange shield rim protection. Reduces accidental wheel damage.
- Aramid reinforced bead: ensures tight and secure fit of the tyre on the rim
